About Me

Hello, and welcome to my site. I’m Jennie, an experienced voluntary sector professional and published writer, with significant project management and communications experience.

Sub-editing and proof-reading can be easily ignored in business – mostly due to time and financial constraints. However, to stay ahead of your competitors you need to show customers and potential customers that you take pride in all aspects of your work; the quality of your written materials really will make a difference to people’s perceptions of your company.

This is where I come in. Click on the links to see how I can help.

As well as being a freelance features writer, I hold a professional qualification in sub-editing with proof reading, and am also qualified to teach English as a foreign language. I have a 2:1 MA (Hons) degree in History and Archaeology from the University of Glasgow.

Me

My full-time job is as a writer and editor of fundraising applications for a  charity in central London.

My professional history within the voluntary sector includes writing and editing a number of websites, magazines, reports and marketing materials for a variety of audiences, including the NHS, government officials, Deaf and Hard of Hearing people, professionals within health and social care, professionals within the criminal justice system, and people who do not have English as a first language.

In February 2009 an article of mine focusing on the UK’s first female doctor, Elizabeth Garrett Anderson, was published in glossy women’s monthly magazine Scarlet, and my article on Hitchin’s lavender history has just been published in Hertfordshire Countryside. I have recently written an article on my Kincardineshire ancestry that hopefully will be published in a geneaology magazine, and several of my reviews feature on the cultural website www.culture24.org.uk – they are easily accessible using the ’search’ facility.
